Trevor Traina — Chairman of the Board, SchemaLogic
Trevor Traina is an entrepreneur and private investor. Most recently he was a group manager in Microsoft’s MSN Internet division. Previously, he was the president and founder of Compare.Net, the leading buyer’s guide on the Internet. Media Technology Ventures, Intel and GE Capital backed the company, which was founded in 1996. Trevor sold his company to Microsoft in March of 1999.
Trevor began his career in marketing as a brand manager for Seagram’s in New York. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Princeton, a graduate degree in political science from Oxford and a master’s in business administration from Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. Trevor is chairman of SchemaLogic, is affiliated with three venture capital firms, serves on several corporate and charitable boards including the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley, and has been quoted in Forbes, Business Week, Time, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and other leading publications.
Jeff Dirks — President and Chief Executive Officer
Jeff Dirks is a hard-charging leader with a track record of success in both early-stage companies and established market leaders. He has an extensive background in operational execution spanning strategy, enterprise sales and services, distributed enterprise-system software engineering and financial operations.
From 1998 to 2003 Jeff served in various executive capacities at CapitalStream, including president and chief operating officer, where he architected the business and technical strategy that sparked company growth and market share leadership. Jeff led CapitalStream’s push into the commercial/retail banking sector developing the industry’s first ASP-based Commercial Finance Automation Platform, including winning and servicing accounts such as Bank of America, Fleet Boston Financial, Merrill Lynch, Siemens Credit and Bank of the West.
Prior to CapitalStream, Jeff was vice president of product delivery at HK Systems, a leading supply chain management software company. From 1992 to 1998, Jeff rapidly advanced at FourGen software, progressing from development team lead, group product manager and director of consulting before serving as vice president of engineering and executive director for General Electric Supply’s worldwide supply chain management upgrade. Jeff began his career in enterprise IT at IBM as a software engineer. He also served four years in U.S. Army Military Intelligence in West Berlin. Jeff earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Washington.
David Campbell — Vice President, Principal Investments Area, Goldman Sachs
David Campbell is a Vice President of Goldman Sachs' Principal
Investment Area focused on enterprise technology investment
across stage. He also serves on the boards of Surgient and
Terracotta.
For the 10 years prior to joining the technology investment
group, David Campbell held a number of senior roles within
Goldman's Technology Group, including global infrastructure
architecture, and global enterprise storage. He was elected
Technology Fellow in 2002 for his role in developing the firm's
technology. He started his career working on a number
of industry and military projects, focused on operating systems
and real-time control systems. In 1990, he moved to Japan to
work in the Fujitsu super computer R&D labs.
In 1994, he joined Goldman Sachs in Japan managing their systems
in Asia; relocating to NY to take on the global architecture
role in 1998. David Campbell holds both a BE, Electrical
Engineering and BA, Japanese from Queensland University, Australia.
Greg Gottesman — Managing Director, Madrona Venture Partners
Greg Gottesman joined Madrona Venture Partners in 1997 and currently serves on the boards of Bocada, ePartners, Intrepid Learning Solutions, Rendition Networks, Thinkfire, and WildTangent. Greg has also served on the boards of Singingfish (prior to its acquisition by Thomson), LiveBid.com (prior to its acquisition by Amazon.com) and AdRelevance (prior to its acquisition by Media Metrix). Before joining Madrona, he worked as an associate at Boston Consulting Group.
Greg graduated Phi Beta Kappa with honors and distinction from Stanford University, with honors and distinction from the Harvard Business School and with honors from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. He is a board member of the Evergreen Venture Capital Association, University of Washington Center for Technology Entrepreneurship and the Seattle Repertory Theatre, where he is chair of the Trustees Committee. He is a lecturer at the University of Washington Business School and teaches a class on venture capital with Matt McIlwain in the executive MBA program. He is the author of three books.
Michael Pliner – Advisor to the Board
Dr. Pliner has 35 years experience in computer software and systems technology, general management, business and organizational development. Dr. Pliner is an experienced entrepreneur and has started, financed, and built three successful high technology businesses including Sytek, Verity and Vuent. He retired in December 2000 as the CEO of Assentive Solutions where he raised $25M of additional capital. Currently, Dr. Pliner is a consulting entrepreneur serving on the Boards and advisory Boards of several high technology companies. His primary interests are in digital media and enterprise software technologies and applications.
